Porch and Parlour X Baxter Mill Archive Collaborative Journey
In a harmonious collaboration that bridged the past and present, a team of creative minds partnered with Baxter Mill Archives to breathe new life into historic documents and weave them into the fabric of contemporary design. Our vision was to craft a collection of timeless pillows that not only adorned living spaces but also whispered stories of heritage and craftsmanship.
Our journey began with a treasure of archival textile documents. Fragments of vintage patterns, faded sketches and intricate weave fabrics that stepped into history and tradition.
As the designs emerged from the archives, a symphony of creativity unfolded. With inspiration from the rich tapestry of motifs and patterns, our design team reinterpreted them through a contemporary lens. Classic florals danced alongside geometric abstractions, creating a seamless fusion of old and new.
The result was unique collections of pillows that transcended mere decoration, becoming storytellers in their own right.
And so, the collaboration between Baxter Mill Archives and Porch and Parlour became more than just a project- it was a testament to the power of heritage, creativity and community.
The Legacy of Baxter Mill Archives: A Tale of Tradition, Legacy and Community
Springs Cotton Mills was founded in 1886, by Leroy Springs and Elliot White in Lancaster, South Carolina. This first mill created textile collections for the American consumer. These designs became part of a library of textiles as inspiration for future designers. Baxter Mill Archives now houses these authentic American textile designs, including iconic brands of their time Springmaid and Wamsutta. It all began as a passion for collecting and preserving historical textile prints and has since revolved into a go-to destination for designers who enjoy our end-to end Design Center experience.
